Technology as durable as the SESCO legacy.
The story of SESCO starts in 1885 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Sylvanus F. Bowser (S. F. Bowser) invented the automobile gasoline pump. The word “bowser” even became a common name for a gas pump in some places. His company grew by building reliable systems to handle and dispense oil and fuel as the auto industry expanded.
In 1969 the company was acquired and renamed SESCO, focusing on oil and fuel dispensing systems. In 1986 SESCO built its first vacuum oil dehydration system. That move took the company into transformer processing and dielectric fluid conditioning, which is the core of its work today.
SESCO is still based in Fort Wayne. We manufacture a full line of low- and high-vacuum oil purification equipment for utilities, transformer makers, and field service crews across North America, backed by more than a century of oil-handling experience.
A Brief Timeline
1885

S. F. Bowser invents the automobile gas pump. It solved several problems simultaneously—accuracy, safety, convenience, and trust— at exactly the moment gasoline was becoming a mass-market product. Hugely successful, the "Bowser" pump enabled a completely new retail distribution model.
1969

Bowser Inc was acquired and name changed to SESCO with focus on design, manufacture, and repair of oil and fuel dispensing systems.
1982

SESCO manufactured its first vacuum oil dehydration system. For SESCO, transitioning from basic industrial filtration and hydraulic systems into high-vacuum dielectric oil conditioning represented a logical move into specialized power engineering equipment.
Today
SESCO is a major supplier of a wide range of power transformer service and installation processing equipment.
The scope of supply includes mobile and stationary insulating oil purifiers, synthetic natural ester dielectric fluid conditioning systems, insulating oil regeneration systems, on-line transformer oil purification systems, insulating oil conditioning and filling systems, vacuum line moisture cold traps, dry breathing air systems, and transformer evacuation systems. Easily portable filtration, vacuum, and dry air trailers are also available. High efficiency lube oil vacuum dehydrators are available for standard high-water ingression applications and can also be custom built to your needs.
